Craft Flight Simulator - Charleston SC
What is CRAFT?Flight training has been done the same way since the Wright brothers in 1910 – getting right into the airplane for your first lesson. Unfortunately, the airplane is a terrible classroom for learning to fly. CRAFT (Charleston Regional Advanced Flight Training) changes the entire experience by first coaching you in our full-motion aircraft flight simulator so that you are more confident once you are in the airplane.
CRAFT represents your pathway to your license to fly – a way to get your pilot’s license in less time and at less cost. If you integrate our flight simulator with your lessons in the airplane, you may save nearly 50% in both time and money.
The Sim
The Redbird FMX is a full motion, feature-rich, FAA-approved Advanced Aviation Training Device with multiple airplane configurations.
Standard features include wrap-around visuals, a fully enclosed cockpit, quick-change configurations, scenario-based training compatibility and of course an electric motion platform, resulting in a level of realism that is simply unavailable in other training devices on the market.
Simply put, this is as close to real as it gets.

CRAFT & LAMA
Getting a pilot’s license has always been time-consuming and expensive. Now, general aviation pilots can take advantage of the new technology with the Redbird Flight Simulator, an FAA-approved full-motion Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD).
By learning basics in a flight sim on the ground, new pilots will be able to transition to the airplane with the necessary skills already acquired in the simulator. This will allow them to acquire their rating in less time in the airplane, at a greatly reduced cost, and become a more proficient pilot at the same time.
The Cost Grid at top left shows a projected cost based on the average rental cost of a Cessna 172 and instructor in the local area, using the number of hours that the average flight student takes to complete his training. CRAFT has partnered with members of LAMA to allow them to use our C172 AATD at the price we normally reserve for our block customers, $50 per hour- block time can be purchased at an additional 10% off.
